A note worth reading regarding Facebook and TwitterIt is important to make a point about the many services of Facebook and Twitter. We use these services because they are an excellent way to communicate with a new generation of parishoners, as well as introduce these methods to existing parishoners and communicate with them as well. Twitter and Facebook are huge communities, with user numbers in the tens of millions. We take great care to moderate those Facebook and Twitter pages specifically used by us, however, as you browse through links posted by other members or come into contact with external advertisements, you will find content we can not control, and can not be responsible for. The same rules you use for the rest of the internet will also work with these services. Be careful, be smart, and if you’re unsure of a link that isn’t posted on our own pages, don’t click on it! Thank you. - Chris Richards, Webmaster
Facebook at Saint Helen’sFacebook is a recent addition to our website, and one we’re really excited to be using. Facebook provides a venue to exchange greetings, information and content with a group. On our facebook page you will now be able to see photos & videos that are too large to place on our own sainthelensurrey.ca server. You will also be able to see updates and information about things that are going on in the parish. You can also create your own facebook account, as well as discover more information about facebook at www.facebook.comSocial Media - Engaging community with hospitality and technologyFor one hundred years Saint Helen’s Anglican Church has been communicating with parishoners, their families and the public at large primarily using mail and telephone lists, with some use of email and, of course our website. We will continue the use of all those proven methods, but will also be embracing the use of social media such as Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, and podcasts. This doesn’t mean we will stop using what’s worked, but we will enhance what has worked with tools being embraced by a whole new generation of current and potential parishoners. Our hope is that while corporate worship services may be attended once or twice a week, this will give people an opportunity to be in touch with our faith community - with your faith community - from next door or around the world
