Palm Sunday, April 1st 10:00 am Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey, yet the people of Jerusalem hailed him as a conquering king, placing palm leaves before him.  We will begin our service in the parish hall at 10:00 am with the blessing of the palms, moving into the church in song, and celebrating the Eucharist.  Come and join us! Maundy Thursday, April 6th at 7:30pm  Gathering his disciples together, Jesus stripped to his waist, poured water into a basin, and proceeded to wash their feet.  He did so to show them that if they truly desired to follow him, then they must be servants of all as he was.  Please join us for a very moving ceremony in the church.   Good Friday, April 7th 10:00 am We will begin our service in the Parish Hall with meditations on the stations of the cross.  After this we will move into the church for Good Friday at 11:00 am, finally gathering in the parish hall for coffee, tea, hot cross buns and fellowship.  The meditations are done in a compact space and so are ideal for those who experience mobility difficulties. Holy Saturday, April 8th 7:30 pm  We watch.  We wait. Join us in the church for the beginning of the Easter Vigil, and the ceremonial lighting of the Paschal candle.  We gather together to hear God’s word and to prepare our hearts and minds to receive that ultimate expression of God’s love; the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Easter Sunday, April 9th at 10:00 am - Celebration of the Resurrection When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’ When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.’ So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.  And all that had been commanded them they told briefly to those around Peter. And afterwards Jesus himself sent out through them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation. The Gospel according to Mark, Chapter 16 Welcome!  Come and help celebrate our past and be a part of our future... We are a welcoming and inclusive Christian community located in the thriving and diverse community of Saint Helen’s Park, North Surrey, BC.  The church and rectory were built in 1910, and our bell-tower was originally a river beacon that served to guide riverboats safely up and down the Fraser River before most of the lights we associate with Surrey, Delta and New Westminster were there.  Now we seek to provide a beacon of light of a different sort. We have many opportunities for service, education, and worship.  Come and find peace, friends, and a place to call home.
